History of Secretaries day

The first Secretaries Day was held on June 4, 1952 and was created by Harry F. Klemfuss of Young and Rubicam. It wasn’t until 1955 that the National Secretaries Association (now known as the International Association of Administrative Professionals) officially recognized Secretaries Day. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter declared the date to be National Secretary’s Week, and in 2000, Secretary’s Day was renamed Administrative Professionals Day.
